we have a leetleboy who walks more than crawls... signs please appropriately and when asked... often it takes the gentle asking reminder... but then he signs it vigorously, with both hands = if they're dirty hands then they get cleaned off on his shirt... :) soooooooooo cute! he continues to be very mechanical... loves to figure out real things... salad spinner, hand mixer, big mixer, the diaper genie, daddy's computer bag with wheels and a long handle, etc... i'm sure all babies are like this... but in the context of a whole line of engineers on one side of the fam and a line of mechanics and tinkerers on the other... :)
he loves to point out the moon in the sky... or where the moon should be (in the middle of the day)... he points to airplanes... and makes a humming sound... he likes to make his voice sound like police and ambulance sirens when they go by... and his general babbling continues to increase.
he seems to be getting goofier... on many levels! which is MUCH fun!
he's had his first sunny, warm, windless day at frisbee where he got to walk all over the track, a high jump pit, the grass, near the sand box (wasn't too sure he liked that sand staying on his hand...) he liked watching his friends m&m play, and helped hold the leash when friend h was done with it (with hb the pooch)...
he's climbing a bit more onto low things and is starting to figure out how to safely get down the stairs feet first/belly down...
he now goes on "walks" with mommy to the park that's close by... he likes pointing out the holes in the cement, bird poop spackles, pine cones, leaves, sticks, and other debris... when he really gets going, he makes a constant whine that sounds like a revved up car engine... motoring right along... :) he LOVES the swing in the park still... and likes poking wood chips through the holes in the floor of some of the other playground equipment... this is also a great vantage point for pointing out birds "too too too too" (high voice)!
his spoon and fork skills are really coming along... the spoon works pretty well for applesauce and pudding... runnier things... uhhh... not so well... hb the pooch is gonna gain some weight before he's independently and cleanly eating! his fork stabbing ability is doing quite well. and he's definitely requesting to feed himself more now... by refusing to eat anything you shovel his way unless he can hold it himself! :) what a BIG BOY! This was one of the very first attempts... ugh! yogurt EVERYWHERE!!! that's when i got smart and offered thicker options for spoon adventures!
This was a week or two later... muuuuuuch better... thick pudding!
THE COOL thing, is that the "walking" skills and the "please" allll came together when far away gmaj was visiting!!! he was dabbling in walking as a 14mo old, but not tooooo keen on it... the falling is suboptimal... but he really put it all together while they were hanging out. I've been working a few days a week this month and will part of next month, too... so gmaj, ultimaterunnerfrisbee friend, and gpa/gmaz will all be hanging with the bonz while i'm away. it's HARD on the momma, but he seems to be doing just fine. :)
ALSO while gmaj was here... (sz was working out of state), i took my first ever overnite away from the bonz... ohhhhh boy... big doings! i ran my first ultra since being 19wks pg... so almost 2y ago... great course, well organized race... my training isn't what it used to be, and it was super duper muddy and boggy in a lot of places (mi 7-29 out of 31mi), so i struggled a bit more than i would have liked... but it was sooooo nice to be out on a trail... in one of my favorite areas... despite the RAGING case of poison oak i brought back (and yes, i know to stay out of the bushes, and i know how to ID it in it's multitude of forms especially in that set of trails... but i'm so sensitive to it, it just doesn't matter, evidently), i'd love to run that one again... i'd be even better prepared and i'd love it even more!
sz has been travelling tons... and that won't change too much, tho it looks like we'll have more weekends together in the next few weeks compared to the past... so that will be nice... we've had some showings... about 2-3/wk... but no offers yet... so we keep plugging along. :) the improving weather sure makes that easier...
