reinventing up a storm 8/21 + 8months and 1wk old!

(now how can you argue with the smile on that mug!!!!!)
well... can't say that life is dull... and little did we know when we named this blog just HOW much reinventing we'd be doing and in what areas of life... gotta roll with the punches, eh? well, roll on, then... as alabama sings. once again, august (and just prior to our fall convention up the road) finds us wondering if we'll still be living here in a few months and if not, where we will be... and if so, then what sz will be doing for work. i'm looking fwd to the economy (i.e., whatever sz's industry is) stabilizing a bit so perhaps we can focus our reinvention on things that are more fun.
pat pat pat on the window...

in happier news... little j is growing up a storm... passing 28 inches like they were standing still and somewhere in the 19-20pound range according to less than scientific measures on a mostly accurate home scale. he started commando crawling (belly on the floor) with a version that looked more like inchworm+dog paddle on the plush green carpet of great grandpa rz's house on 8/6/09 before a small audience of his mama and greatgrandparz... he got speedier and smoother (somewhat) on 8/8/09 and showed his new skills off to daddy and gpa/gmaz while we spent the week there relaxing and enjoying some sunny weather on the lake. we had fun time with arz fam (and j's 4 very cool and fast growing cousins) as well as some of scott's cousins (thanks for the fab banana splits and accoutrements) tkk and kiddos... 20th class reunion was one afternoon... fun to hear a few stories... and a little skiing action for daddyz and some jetskiing for me (and hubby, too). THANKS to gpa/gmaz for the tasty food and cool bed... hb thanks you for the tasty vittles as well. :)

This is a two pic shot of the ultimate in "carrot dangling" for j's commando crawling... the cell phone... far more motivating and enticing than any toy or person... if the cell lies within "crawling" or "doggie-paddling on land" distance, then it must be reached... and OH the joy when it's reached! this was on day 2 of his initial success with fwd propulsion. :) whoo whooo!

and a couple other shots from the weekend...

back at our ranch... figuratively speaking, of course... sz has been perusing the internet for mfg and mech engineering jobs while i've worked this past week... and half of next... for the PT at the bottom of our hill... grandmamaj is doing her gma-nanny duties for us which has been awesome. next week is convention I... we're hoping the heat stays away for that week to up the comfort factor between mtgs for the little man... which directly correlates to the comfort factor for the mama and the papa as well. :)

"king of the bongos"

(real cell phones are sooooooooooooooooooooooooo cool!)

j's been working hard on getting his top two teeth through and has pretty much succeeded... seems we may have another one or two thinking about it as well... unfortunately, this means his usual fabulous sleeping patterns have been less fabulous... which makes for a tired mama when you combine 2 feeding wake ups during the nite or one wake up and a 530-6a time to get up wake up feed. sigh. but he was a great sleeper before, so i shall choose to believe he'll be a great sleeper again! ;) purees have been improving and he's got quite the list of tasty foods now... he also likes sucking and teething on carrots... and "peeling" them with his new found biting ability.

fish face lips that mama almost missed on camera

mmmmmmmmm, how 'bout a bite with my new teeth!

back to commando crawling... boy has he gotten fast and efficient now... he can motor! and he LOVES his hb... special squeals for her every time he sees her... he can get from sitting to tummy easily and without conking his head.. sometimes balances precariously between the 2 positions on a knee and a toe and a hand and elbow or some interesting configuration... and i think he's spent about 20sec for his record on hands/knees before melting to his belly and taking off... right arm is the main puller, left arm helps... both legs engage and big toes provide propulsion... fleece+carpet is strength training... and hardwoodfloor + any clothes = speed training. go baby go! run hb run! :) he loves going for her water bowl... not allowed... her toys... uh, those either... and stairs... no fear... so we keep a very close eye... and we're buying gates tomorrow. ;)

running's going well enough... roads only... unless i slip away to a little spot 15 min north or downtown to some dirt... but it's the big dirt i'm missing... the mtn dirt... i'm pining for the trails... sigh... but they will come... not in large quantities this summer... but next... when i'm done with nursing... unless some other major reinvention comes along... i'll be tiptoeing through the tulips and trails once again for long runs while daddy gets some one on one time... and that part of me will feel refreshed once again. but i'm thankful to be running what i am... very much indeed.

well... if i'm to get more sleep, then i must take action and trot up the stairs and hit the sack! cheers to all! and send us some mfg/production/mech jobs... or at least some vibes, eh? :) thanks!
