WOW! 9months! almost out of the belly as long as he was in the belly! crazy to think. i had a kid? i have a kid? wow.
latest achievements and behaviors...
1. he bobs his head and wiggles his midsection to music sometimes... like the songs from the puppy (auntiepsj), some piano songs, a couple radio songs mommy always dances to.2. if i bob my head to music (up/down like a yes type motion), he'll directly counter with the "no" shaking head motion... he does this motion at other times with his eyes wide open... always ends in a smile when he starts to tilt off balance a bit.
3. since he started commando crawling, he's LOVED to twang the door stoppers... huge hit... gotta keep our eye on that one tho as the little white nubbin at the end can come off... bad choking hazard... so we're always standing by on that one.
4. spends more time on all-fours and rocks back and forth a bit but no overt sign of crawling in that position... he launches fwd, doesn't move his arms, hits the belly and cruises commando style... no, not that commando... :) too messy. ;)
3. he loves it when you make all sorts of animal noises... "what does the goat say?"... neh-eh-eh-eh, etc. he especially loves doggie noises.
4. he LOVES his hb... got to pet a kittie... loves to turn off the computer... does his "suck in laugh" sound as he crawls as fast as he can to get the button before you swoop him up... same approach to beating it for the curtains before we put them up... or for hb's face (my what big TEETH you have! and what a nice NOSE! and are those EYES?) or tail hairs (great for pulling) before we intervene... he totally knows when he's doing something he's not supposed to do and goes at it full speed with a gleam in his eye and a grin on his lips until... CURSES, the parents foiled my plans!
5. he's getting better and faster at opening/closing drawers and even cupboards... he likes to pull himself up on the bottom ledge of the open fridge... the open dryer ... king of the bongos... he love to open/close big doors (like the pantry or bathroom door) but he's still not super fast at getting out of the way of his mighty pulls, so nearly conks himself in the head at times.
6. he's growing 3 new teeth... arrgh... so sometimes he crawls over to your knee and, in slow motion, opens his mouth and comes down for the chomp... thankfully, we avoid this by having a knee bigger around than his mouth can take on... and we just "divert and switch" to an appropriate biting object.
5. just thought i'd throw another number repeater in there.... this is why i don't run around a track very often... ya get to 3 and i just don't know if it was really 3 or if it was actually 4 or just 2 or whatever. anyway... when he stands by sometime, he doesn't understand that you should sit to get out of the position... instead, he "barndoors" (climbing reference) or just falls backwards like a tree... which behoooooooves us to be sitting/standing right there thus far to edumacate him on the proper form for descending.
6. he fits his horsey right now! and he loves to play with the horsey's hair... a video will be posted likely on shutterfly as i don't know that i can get them on blogspot ... still.
7. he's discovered how to pull on the hairs at the nape of mommy's neck... ow. must be all that practice trying to pull out hb's tail hair... which hb does not like... and we prevent as best we can.
8. He's discovering finger foods and doing better with the pincer grasp... little pieces of bread, bananas (very slippery), tofu, soft carrots, gerber puffs, grated cheese pieces... nursing's going well... purees going well... loves his fish!... loves rice/lentils... happy to eat chicken mixes and beef mixes and veggies and fruits and... yogurt... yeah... decent eater.
9. His babbling is increasing... especially in the past few weeks... more "commands" and responses... some mimickry...definite particular doggie screeches
10. Has entered the "stranger anxiety" phase... especially towards guys... happy to grin at them and give them sideways glances during mtg, but NOT keen on having them touch or hold him afterwards.
11. When he's mad or frustrated, he says "naynaynaynaynay"... or "nyenyenyenye"... :) hard not to chuckle.
12. Loves to go for morning potty walks with daddy in the bjorn and hb on the leash around the complex... both j and hb get all excited when the bjorn comes out... legs and arms and paws and tails all get to waggling.
13. Still taking 2-3 naps per day... one is getting really short... and sometimes if there are only 2 naps, one is still way too short.
14. Loves walking and running with mom in the BOB... loves to see the birds... follows them with his eyes... as he does specks of dust (not in our house, of course, just elsewhere) in the sunbeam, dragon flies, moths (does anyone but my own family call them "millers"?), etc.
15. Seems to be getting mamama and dadadada figured out.
16. He likes to give slow head nuzzles... forehead to forehead... forehead to cheek... LOVE THOSE!
17. Loves it when mommy sings "who's afraid of the big bad wolf"...
18. Waves at the right time occasionally... but not consistently...
19. Still LOVES his blankie... and loves to sleep with it or another blankie over his face.
20. Still approaches new endeavors with a very serious face... swinging and slides (with mommy or daddy's help)... OH, and LOVES to yell at the vacuum... smiles and wants to touch it when we walk by it... uses a similar yell when you fill up the tub... matches the volume easily. :) our condo neighbors gotta love it! hopefully those fire walls are thick!

At the 9month doctor visit: 29 and 5/8ths inches long, 19pounds 13oz, and has a 47cm head. So 90th percentile height, 50th weight and 90th head size.
and so... HI HO, HI HO, it's off to gma/gpaj's we go!!!!! it will be j and i for our 2 flight trip out... then the 3 of us for the return. should be interesting. i didn't realize how easy i had it when he was only 3months old!
