End of Sept and 9.5mo

Yeeeehawwww! what a fun trip we had back to my homeland... littleman and i had a very early morning flight which was challenging for j as we woke up him at 430a and he didn't go to sleep until the wheels touched down at DIA... i think we made a few neighboring passengers nervous... but it wasn't terrible... ha ha... they were probably just as nervous by me nursing (as discreetly as absolutely possible) in an aisle seat (2nd row from the back) next two two innocent looking boys that could have been missionaries... but i don't think so... the puddle jumper flight to the final destination went very well. yay! We had a similar pattern on the way back... rough first flight (not the air, but little j)... some serious screeches for sure! but thankfully a VERY nice couple in front of us... and the 2nd flight was perfect... he loved looking out the windows like a big boy finding all the lights and whatever else daddyo pointed out for him to look at... sooooo cute!

we had fabulous gma/gpaj time... gma had the house stocked with all sorts of cool toys she found at a major community garage sale... she really did well! the toys were a hit! as were the kitchen items and empty kleenex box for putting toys in/out of... and the "shaker" and drum and jingles! we had lovely time with auntieree and puppysuz... a visit with my auntpsj and auntbb as well as cousinkb as well as others--he LOVES his new wooly hat and his halloween bones outfit... pics on that one to follow!

hope mr DH keeps feeling good and walkin' up a storm so he can get back to farmin with AH and his pop!! ... we also had a quick trip to the capital city for some GOBIGRED and a fun visit with some folks i used to go to mtg with on union sundays... ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh... sz joined j and i for the last 4 days of the 9 day trip... unfortunately, he ended up with a cold today... a bad one... lots of snotticus and watery eyes and other unhappinesses... poor sweetpea!

he really does like to swing at the neighbors... despite the expression... we did get some smiles... and chatting... in the cool fall afternoons when it wasn't blowin' a gale!

j now pulls up... with effort... and can get his feet under him to stand

he loves to play the real piano as much as his own piano at home... especially duets with auntieree and lots of sharps/flats!

he continues to love belly buttons (others')... to poke and pull on. lovely.

he likes to go up a few stairs with help... and then turn around and just freefall down if you're not watching closely... which thankfully i was... so i just caught him and tried to show him a better way... not so sure anything was retained, but... :) it takes so much grunting and effort to get up to standing at the lowest stair, that it's easy to know what he's up to. :)

he still crawls army style, but likes to get up on his hands/knees and sit there, balance on 2-3 points (yes, even 2 sometimes... hilarious)... and does "downward dog" at times... but really doesn't move fwd. i've GOT to get a pic of these poses sometime...

at the local children's museum... if it runs like a deere... oh so many great songs about tractors...

he has his own "motor sounds" that have been tweaked by gpaj's version of the sounds... for when he gets pushed around on his horsey or pulled/pushed on his wagon or "lion ride." and he loved the children's museum and the "open/close" board... the elephant/giraffe/etc rides...

he likes to hold toys out (or finger food) for you to take (THANK YOU!) ... when you take it and say thank you, he shrugs up one shoulder and tilts his head towards and smiles a little shy smile.... Oh, my beating heart! ... and then he likes to take the object back (FOR YOU!)... soooo cute! and he's now showing interest in what mommy's eating... and even indicating with outstretched hand and "ah" in a commanding tone that he's wanting some sometimes... hmmmmm... guess my eating habits will be changing up a bit... :) always good to have something he can eat right near by if i'm eating something he can't... :)

he likes to GIT DOWN with music (even auntieree's cell phone ring tones)!!!!! maybe not quite as advanced as the baby who shakes her groove thing to beyonce, but we're running a close second... just can't quite get the leg up... j is more of a hippy groover/head bobber than a hiphopper, but... we'll see how it all develops! he has a little headbanger in him... but unfortunately, that doesn't go well with wood or tile floors at gpa/maj's house... and he hasn't been his usual dancin' self since returning from the trip with the lack of naps on travel day and the big bad head cold.

j is still king of the bongos but this time on real bongos!

he likes to slowly tip his forehead towards your forehead, touch gently, and say "mmmmmm"... this is what i was trying to capture with gpaj but my camera was just too slow.

auntieree introduced the 3littlepiggies to him via record player... and the associated stories... ahhh... i LOVE those!!!!! can't wait to hear more next time!

littletechnoboy is soooooooo fast at blazing trails across the floor to try to punch the computer button... and he discovered new colors and lights on gpaj's set up... but alas... his attempts to do abrupt shutdowns were always foiled.

he LOVES power cords... especially vacuum ones... i.e., can play with the vacuum cord for 15min while i fold and put away clothes... and then try to climb up on the vacuum and bear hug it... lovely.... guess i'd better swipe the outside of my vacuum frequently.

do you have enough cord gma??

he's getting better at "pat patting" the pooch rather than trying to pull individual or fistfulls of hair out. he still doesn't understand why it's not a great idea to poke giant teeth, dog nose holes, eyes, jowls, and etc... but somehow i think this lesson takes awhile... based on some toddlers and preschoolers i've seen.

notice, the excellent phrasing... nice touch amadeus!

just prior to his bath last nite, j pointed exaggeratedly at his daddy's chest, poked it, and said, "DA DA"... VERY cute... he's been saying the syllables for quite sometime... but not so specifically.

his other babbling continues to grow... consonants sometimes lead, sometimes they follow... still does the disco/sea lion call in his high voice that is sooooooo cute... still occasionally sends out a mama sonar... sometimes "talks" all in mmmm's... just like adults! and he likes to raise his voice and "talk" right after we speak if we're trying to communicate between the upstairs/downstairs, etc. they do pay attn!!!!!! egads! :)

he pointed at the right mailbox today while daddyo was getting his key out of his pocket... just one point... right at the right one... out of 2 rows/20 boxes.

well... i'm sure there's more... but now i don't have to write all this stuff in an actual babybook.... cuz it's HERE!!!!! ;) and now gpa/maz can read up... we got to see them very briefly the weekend before we took off as they were down for a relative's funeral in vancouver... but it was very brief and j had a pretty solid case of "new people" anxiety... not that they're new at all... we see them pretty often given the distance.... but to the mind of a 9month old...

as for me... it's always wonderful to be home... and it was fun to be in my old college town... what a great place... never enough time to visit the old haunts.

unrelated, but i'm jonesin' in a HUGE way to run a seriously long trail run...

happy nite to all and to all a good nite!

cheers!
