13months and mid Jan!

wow... we have a 13month old! i think the past month has been the fastest of them all... don't know why... well, maybe it's been because in the past month, sz started his new job as a project mgr for a company that makes the big conveyor/machine systems for large scale recycling centers ... so i've evolved into psuedo-single mom status... but thankfully i'm not picking up much work right now either... truly, i would be a basketcase as a real single mom that had to work full time, too.

we visited cousinT up north in the Emerald City while daddy worked one wknd... we've had lovely worker company for the workers mtg and also for special mtgs... got to attend them today and last sunday as well... we've had tasty vittles at STJHJ's... enjoyed cheering mrB as he started for his high school BB team and kept their big shooter from much scoring at all... the BOB and fabulous yellow rain cover has allowed us to enjoy snowy and rainy and windy and nasty runs... mostly while j snoozes for one of his two naps of the day... it's a great deal, really... although pushing 47pounds (even tho the wheels are low friction) greatly enhances the workout... i wish that translated to increased speed, but unfortunately... strength will be my strength. :)
thanks to auntiejz for the fabulous 2 pics above...

i'm getting some longer runs in, thanks to ultimatebestfriendrunnergirl and hubby when he's home... gearing up for my first 2 ultras since 14wks pg. I'm really not sure how they'll go given that i'm still dealing with some discomfort in the core muscles/joints... but PT and exercises are going well and i seem to be improving... whether or not i'll have the strength to make it through a trail 50k and a 1/2 paved+1/2 trail 50miler in March and April will remain to be seen. here j is refueling with daddy on a chipotle burrito after mommy's long run without either of them. :)

little j is a super speedy crawler and cruises in standing while hanging onto furniture... he's getting slightly more daring and climbing up onto things like the d/w door and a box that we put his toys in... he's fast on the stairs and announces his ascent by saying something that sounds like a cross between "up" and "off"... thankfully you know what he's up to. he's also stood without touching things a handfull of times... max length about 7-10sec... usually just a few sec. a serious but casual (nothing much going on here, hmmmmmmm.) expression.

his big word/phrase that he definitely means is "all done"... sounds like "all duh"... soooo sweet... but it means... all done with book in mtg... all done with particular bite, or dinner item, or drink for now, or changing diaper, or pouring something, or playing with something... or "all done with my nap now, mom"... soooooooooooooooooooooo cute! a little no-tice-able in mtg even tho he doesn't say it loud... :) OH, and he waves now... at passing cars... when you say "bye" on the phone... or if he thinks you should be saying "bye"... :)

he likes pointing out belly buttons, knees, toes, noses, ear, hair barrette, collar, button, zipper, etc... especially on someone else! less so on himself. and he likes your food better than his... but he's happy to eat both.... and then more... which he signs and verbally demands with grunts. :)

he loves his new "truck" from gma/paj... he's walked behind it (pushing it in front) 1x of his own volition about 7 feet... very studious... and when he was done, he crawled away laughing with glee! cute! he's still not too into walking with help or etc... just wants to crawl... which is still fine with me!

enjoys sitting on top of the washer turning all the dials... is soooo excited about pushing the d/w buttons which thankfully he can't apply enough pressure on to do anything significant... he likes to play with hb's collar, so we take it off and he practices putting it around his neck, lays it on hb and pat-pats her, and puts it on his puppysue toy (the talking one which is a renewed fav)... he says "off" clearly, "yessssss" is pretty understandable...

still has 3 distinct (to my ear) sounds for applesauce, banana, and his blankie... he knows cheese, crackers, toast as separate things, tho his versions sound strikingly similar... he does a very distinct "yes dance" with various "volumes" of mvmts depending on how exciting it is... i'd have to say "c is for cookie" song (resulting in these organic super healthy not at all exciting cookie deals) has the HIGHEST volume of mvmt and excited head shaking "yes" sounds of all! yay!!!

we still have our mommy/son dance to Train's "hey, soul sistah" and michael franti's "i love you"... he likes eating his peanutbutter/cinnamon toast chunks with his new toddler fork on his new toddler plate... sometimes he just likes to repeatedly stab them and still eat them with his fingers. we're having better luck actually getting fluid out of sippy cups (he still prefer straw cups)... but sometimes it's just used for sprinkling things... like a few leftover pieces of toast... or the dog... or the table and plastic sheet under his chair... etc.

an interesting week long "issue" came up after we returned from the city to the north... my sweet angelic J went through a very "challenging" shall we say time... he was positively devious and repeatedly (as in, 10x in a row, no joke, i counted) doing naughty things that i would correct him for ea. time... like grabbing hb (dog) nose/fur/eye/lips/etc very hard and squeezing... why he didn't get bitten is a true testament to my poundpuppy's EXTREMELY amazing patience with him! and trust me, this is NOT usually a strong point with her re: other dogs or kids, etc. maybe it's allllll those food pieces he sneaks and not-so-sneaks her during dinner and snacks... i didn't let him actually grab her nose/etc after the first time, i'd intercept his hand, but still... and when he'd do it, he's LAUGH... or rather, CACKLE with an E-Vil glint in his eye! it was the same with trying to turn the computer off (and on/off/on/off as fast as possible)... EVEN MORE, after the 4th correction, he'd crawl the other way and get far enough away from whatever he clearly knows he's not supposed to do, so i'd return to cleaning up after dinner or whatever i was doing and when i was just far enough away, he'd crawl like a mad man BACK to the VERY thing he understood in no uncertain terms that he was not supposed to do and try to DO IT AGAIN!

hana taking out angst on a cool new stuffed but super-reinforced toy from auntiereensistersuz

and we didn't even get any new molars out of the deal.

anyway... just as soon as it had come, it left... a week later. interestingly, during this time, he was very, very clingy and cried lots if i wasn't exactly right by him and/or holding him... which makes it very hard to do anything remotely productive.... like.. make food for us to eat. but... as my wise mother and wise ultimatebestfriendrunnergirl suggested... perhaps this coincides with daddy being all-the-sudden gone all the time and oh, no, what if you leave me, toooooooo????? GEESH! i'm tired recounting all that! but anyway... just noting for the babybook/blog. :)

well... almost dinner/sunday nite popcorn time! and i think my little angel is stirring from his afternoon nap... a little later than usual due to special mtg being far more interesting than napping earlier. ;)

cheers!... and if you know anyone that needs to buy a condo in the south metro area of our fair city... send them out way! unfortunately for us, they're doing super cheap!
