Memmmmorrrriiiiiiiiiiiieeeeeeesssssssss.... (you can all warble along...) :)We spent Thanksgiving up in Oroville this year... and true to form, what was once a 7hr trip is now a 9hr trip with stops for the bonz... he's a very good eater thus far, so it takes awhile to get all that food in him! We joined J's great AuntieM, UncleT/auntJ/cousinT, at GreatgrandpaR's and Gpa/GmaZ's old and new house. The best part had to be watching little T (11mo older than J) interact with J... she was so patient, loved showing him how to do things, helping him do things, sharing toys, even getting on the ground and crawling with him... she's running and jumping and walking all over, of course, but she was so good at doing things with him! she also loved pointing out the "doh doh doh" = hb the dog... and now (a few weeks later), that's a new j sound... he doesn't do it in reference to hb (he has his own squeals for her), but uses it as a sound anyway... so cool!
after very tasty turkeyday and post turkeyday meals, we had an early bday celebration for littleJ as well... he got some cool new books which we are now enjoying, and a neato stuffed birthday bear! hb loves the bear at least as much as j does... we have to keep a close eye! j loves to "eat" the flame on the bear's candle/cake... hee hee...
as for the actual cake eating... he got to try a mini choc cupcake from gmaz... he wasn't too sure about it but that didn't stop him from eating it... the texture of the frosting between his fingers caused some stellar facial grimaces... sooo cute! but like i said... the min cupcake did disappear! :)
we got to see greatauntE and greatuncleJ... had lots of good times with gpa/gmaz... sz got to help them (and bro T) with some new house projects and some heavy lifting... so that was good, as well.
on our way to seattle from oro (so sz could attend the Applecup) we stopped at a most fabulous coffeehouse in Wenatchee called CafeMelo (oops, is it Melo or Mela? sorry, DnER) right downtown by the convention center. I had the tastiest cappuccino... wow... that's where the pic above is from... on the right. i HIGHLY recommend stopping there! my fruity scone was also fabulous... as was sz's cinnamon treat! from there we headed to ARZ's... had a fun nite and breakfast... then onto mtg further south so we could catch up with our friends ARTG's... Happy first birthday TG!!!!! :) J and T are good buds... we can sense some fabulous convention fun in the future! :)
After turkeyday we had some fun around here... j likes to eat his bananas all by himself... sometimes likes to eat the peel too... yuck! and unfortunately he had his first real bonk of the head... a blow to the eyebrow caused by the edge of a cupboard shelf + a twirl around bonk the back of the head... the eyebrow was the most impressive but it healed quickly... thankgoodness! i don't know if i'm ready for all those hear stopping slow-motion bangs and clangs! eegads!
These days bring lots of "cruising" (standing holding onto things and walking sideways), more button pushing, deepening love/affection/obsession of the vacuum, 10+laps up our 16 stairs per day... i stop counting at 10. he's still not too keen on coming down them, but he will sometimes turn around at the top of them to come down "correctly" rather than face/head first... he still gives up after 4-5 steps and wants to sit and go face first or be carried... so all this is done with very close supervision. it's a great time for me to work on "pushups" tho... the stairs offer a nice angle that the reps can be high. :)
He loves daddy's belt... he likes to have one to practice "putting on" when daddy's getting dressed in the morning... and just recently he figured out how to put the belt through the metal clasp... doesn't understand the poker yet... or how to latch the belt.
He uses lots of b's, d's, trying out some s's and st's (usually whispered)... can say "off" somewhat... meaning light "off"... enjoys pushing the lever that turns the dryer light on/off... loves to close the door with a BANG and then ask me to open it again (king of the bongos part II)... loves splashing HUGELY in the bath... and has figured out how to open/close the sliding shower door.
We've had our first few lovely experience with floaters in the tub... gross! this is usually after a particularly rambunctious spashing/giggling/laughing hysterically session... hilarious, even tho gross. Thus, he's also experienced his first few showers... which he's not as keen on... that water that pelts the skin and sprays up in the face is not as fun as a bath.ahhhh, the joys!!!!!
he also likes to put his hands behind his head now when he's done eating... and leannnnnn back... like daddy! j's extendo belly then pokes out extra cute with alllllll that dinner! :) i love that he can't lace his fingers together back there, so instead he plays with his own hair. :) so cute! except when there's lots of food on his fingers. ;)
he loves his car/bowl and spoon that makes the race car noises when you dip the spoon in it... dunno that he's quite figured out that it's supposed to help him learn how to use the spoon, but that's ok. ;) he uses the spoon very well... a few bites... then fling fling, tap, pound, here hb want some licks... etc. ;) the other day he did spear about 4 bites of cheese with a fork... then i snuck a carrot chunk in there, which he speared and ate and wasn't happy that it wasn't cheese. he loves his veggies, but not carrot chunks. ;) he basically eats or wants to eat anything we do... smashing things just makes it significantly more efficient at times... SO! we're having to be more careful what we eat in front of him... which is good. :) sometimes it keeps me from eating whatever it is i don't want him to have anyway. ;)
